Important safety information

Approved tirzepatide labeling lists gastrointestinal effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation. It includes a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodents; whether this risk applies to humans is unknown. It contraindicates use with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2.

This is not a complete safety summary. Review the full product-specific information with a clinician, including interactions, pregnancy considerations and your health history. The approved-product label does not establish approval of a different formulation.

Understand the option

What is tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is an active ingredient in certain FDA-approved medicines. Those medicines act on GIP and GLP-1 receptors involved in appetite and blood sugar regulation.

A molecule’s mechanism does not tell us whether it is right for everyone. Your health history and the exact product and regimen are part of an individual treatment decision.

How tirzepatide works

Two receptors. A clearer explanation.

GIP and GLP-1 are hormones involved in the body’s response to food. FDA-approved tirzepatide medicines act on their receptors. This mechanism does not establish results for a compounded formulation.
